Candlelight Tours - Seton Shrine
element or full width-2

Step back in time at the Shrine’s Christmas Living History program…

Nov. 24-26, Nov. 30, and Dec. 1-3

Come be part of Season of Charity with Mother Seton, her Sisters and students at St. Joseph’s School during an unforgettable living history experience for learners of all ages!

The year is 1818 and everyone at St. Joseph’s School is getting ready to share A Season of Charity with those in need.

As you stroll down illuminated walkways you will encounter costumed interpreters from Mother Seton’s world and see the historic homes that she lived in, each tastefully decorated for the season. Join the students and Sisters as they joyfully prepare their gifts for nearby families who are poor. May this Season of Charity enter your heart as you take this unique experience with you.

We are inviting visitors to join in our Season of Charity by supporting the Emmitsburg Food Bank either through making a financial contribution on site or by bringing some of the following items to donate during the Candlelight Tour as the Sisters of Charity and students of St. Joseph’s School assemble baskets of goods for the people of Emmitsburg. Items needed include: shampoo, spaghetti sauce, brownies, icing, cake mixes, pancake mix, instant potato packets, instant rice packets, soup ( not tomato), beets, pork and beans, baked beans, juice, snack bars, bags of chips, and cereal.

Guided tours begin every 30 minutes from 4pm-7pm. The Visitor Center, Basilica and Gift Shop will be open until 8:00pm each night.

Tickets: Tickets are $8/adult, $5/youth ages 7-18 and free for children ages 6 and under. For questions, call us at 301-447-6606.
