Before you visit the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, you and your family may enjoy one or all of the day trip options.
- The National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, is the oldest known replica of the revered French shrine, dating to about 1875. The Grotto has been in use since 1805 when Fr. John Dubois founded it as a place of prayer and devotion. It was here where Mother Seton with her children and small band of women stayed for a few weeks before coming to Saint Joseph's Valley.
- Mother Seton House is located St. Mary's Spiritual Center and Historic Site on Paca Street in Baltimore, Maryland. Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton and her children arrived here June 16, 1808, for about one year, until her journey to Emmitsburg, Maryland.
- The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption is located on 409 Cathedral Street in Baltimore.
- The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is located at 400 Michigan Avenue in Washington, DC.

- Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is located about 10 miles north of The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and easily accessed from Route 15. Visit the Gettysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau web site to learn about events, lodging, and travel ideas.
