  • 236th Birthday Event Planned
    August 29, 2010
    The birthday anniversary of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton will be celebrated in the Basilica at the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, beginning with Mass at 1:30 p.m.  Special honors will be paid to women and girls named Elizabeth Ann or Elizabeth. Following Mass, the birthday party moves into the Courtyard for refreshments, face painting, 19th century games, and a Civil War era Magic Show.  Free admission.


  • 2010 Crab Feast
    September 11, 2010


    $65 per ticket (ages 21 and over only please)
    1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
    Located outside on the Provincial House grounds.
    Live entertainment, tombola, 50/50 drawings.
    All proceeds benefit the Daughters of Charity elderly, retired Sisters and the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton.


  • Annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services
    October 03, 2010
    The public, especially men and women in uniform and their families, are welcome to this 3:00 p.m. Mass in the Basilica honoring those who serve in the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine. The main celebrant is Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, Archbishop of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA. Mass is highlighted by the Presentation of the Colors and the music of the Naval Academy Catholic Midshipmen Choir from Annapolis. Reception follows. Free admission. 


  • Shrine Organ Concert

    The Basilica of the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton presents from the Clavierübung III (The "Organ Mass") by Johann Sebastian Bach performed by Dr. Elizabeth A. Krouse, Shrine Organist, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.  All are welcome. Free-will donation. 


  • Advent Concert Series

    12:00 noon in the Basilica. A short lunchtime organ concert of Advent music by Dr. Elizabeth Krouse and other area organists.


  • Annual Christmas Concert

    The Emmitsburg Chorus will perform their annual Christmas Concert in the Basilica at 3:00 p.m..  Open to the public; free-will offering.


  • Museums by Candlelight
    December 11, 2010
    On Saturday, December 11, Frederick County's historic sites open their doors in holiday style.  Start your tour early with us -- warm cider and cookies from Noon - 4:30 p.m.  Free.  All are welcome!
