{"id":198663,"date":"2025-03-05T09:50:52","date_gmt":"2025-03-05T14:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/setonshrine.org\/?p=198663"},"modified":"2025-07-25T09:08:23","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T13:08:23","slug":"a-family-of-miracles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/setonshrine.org\/es\/a-family-of-miracles\/","title":{"rendered":"Una familia de milagros"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>(50\u00a0 for 50 series) <\/em>In January, Suzanne Larson attended the 2025 Feast Day celebration and kickoff of the yearlong celebration of the 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Elizabeth Ann Seton\u2019s canonization. It was not her first visit \u2014 not by a long shot. Larson and her family hold the first American-born saint in their hearts in a special way. Her family history is tied to a miraculous event that became an integral part of Elizabeth\u2019s road to sainthood.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suzanne\u2019s first cousin is Ann O\u2019Neill, the little girl who was cured of cancer after her mother placed her on the altar and prayed to Mother Seton. Her cousin\u2019s healing was one of the miracles cited by Pope Paul VI during the canonization ceremony in 1975. According to Suzanne, that was not the only time Elizabeth Ann Seton interceded on behalf of her family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u201cMy dad had a massive heart attack in 1970 while on duty as a Baltimore city police officer,\u201d Suzanne said. \u201cMy Aunt Sis (Ann\u2019s mother) and (cousins) Ann, Celine, Jeannie, Theresa, and Mary became my refuge at a terrible time in my life. \u00a0My Aunt Sis got a sign of the Rose while my dad was actually in cardiac arrest. \u00a0She told my mom not to worry. My dad survived and I\u2019m sure lived much longer than anyone would have ever guessed.
