Backpack Blessing on Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Birthday
August 27 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The Shrine is having a Blessing of the Backpacks for students of every age. It takes place during our 1:30 Mass on this day. Elizabeth Ann Seton understood the value of education, so much so that she started the first free Catholic school for girls in the U.S., staffed by Sisters. This school is seen as the beginning of Catholic schools in the U.S., and some schools trace their roots back to her school. Students of all ages are welcome to join us as we celebrate her legacy of education with the Backpack Blessing and Mass. If you don’t use a backpack, please bring whatever you might use in your studies–a book bag, basket, tablet or anything else. Our priest will provide a blessing for an enriching year of learning and growth. After Mass, join us for fun activities for kids of all ages.
