Frederick County’s Museums by Candlelight

December 12

Celebrate the Christmas season at the Seton Shrine during Frederick County’s annual Museums by Candlelight! Visit the home and final resting place of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, a 19th-century Frederick County resident who became the first American-born saint. Explore the museum, discover what Christmas meant to Mother Seton, and enjoy special seasonal activities throughout the day.

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, visitors can also create a special holiday ornament to add to our Frederick County Museums by Candlelight wreath.

Make an evening of it!

After your museum visit, add on a ticketed Christmas in the Valley living history tour and experience Christmas in Mother Seton’s world, then stay for an Evening of Sacred Music with Fr. Maximilian Mary Dean in the Basilica.

Admission to Museums by Candlelight is free. Christmas in the Valley tours and the evening concert are optional add-on experiences.
