The Morning Star is a trio of local musicians who exquisitely perform authentic traditional music from Ireland and Scotland. Jigs, reels, hornpipes, slides, polkas, marches, strathspeys, and slow airs from these incredibly musical Celtic countries are presented in a lively and dynamic manner on traditional instruments, including fiddle, harp, octave mandolin and banjo.
The Morning Star musicians are:
Michael DiIulio – a young, exceptionally talented fiddle player from Fairfield, PA.
Sharon Knowles – an internationally known harper from Biglerville, PA (by way of Scotland)
John Knowles – a seasoned fiddler and multi-instrumentalist from Biglerville, PA (by way of upstate Northeastern PA)
Guest performer John Dreibelbis joins us at the Seton Shrine. John has had a fascination with Celtic music from an early age. Originally a guitarist, he took up the Irish tin whistle and Highland Pipes in his teens – later adding concertina and tenor banjo to the arsenal.
He was a founding member of the Rakish Paddy band and later, Crofter’s Heir – recording and designing two albums.
Eventually, he fulfilled his dream of playing the soulful, bellows-blown Irish Uilleann pipes and toured with the Celtic/Christian rock band Ceili Rain.
John is delighted to be playing and enjoying the music with John, Sharon and Michael.
You’ll be sure to smile and tap your feet — perhaps even get on your feet to dance a step or two — when you listen to their vibrant and lovely music. Not to be missed!
