The Musical Life of Elizabeth Seton

September 19 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

This concert is a unique way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding by exploring the music Elizabeth Seton would have enjoyed throughout her life—as a child, a young mother, and eventually as the foundress of the Sisters of Charity.

The concert is a free event and will be held in the Basilica. Check-in will be available at Info Desk and Basilica entrance.

Did you know?

Elizabeth Ann Seton was the first woman to have her music published in the United States.

As it states in the article “Elizabeth Ann Seton: Saint and Composer of JERUSALEM” by Clark Kimberling, University of Evansville: “Penned in 1812 and first published anonymously before Mother Seton’s death in 1821, JERUSALEM can now be treasured as the earliest known published hymn tune composed by an American-born woman.”

Come hear this piece and many more at this concert!
