DESCRIPTION:Join us for a retreat focues on Care for Our Common Home\, inspired by Laudato Si’ on Saturday\, October 12\, 9am – 3pm. The day begins with Mass celebrated by Fr. Anthony Dill\, and will include a light breakfast and lunch\, tours of our museum and historic homes\, and talks by Dr. Taylor Nutter and Sr. Mary Jo Stein\, DOC. \nTickets are $25 per person. Dill is the Pastor of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Harrisburg\, Pennsylvania. He serves as Canonical Consultant and Promotor of Justice in the Tribunal and Vice Chancellor for the Diocese of Harrisburg. \nSr. Mary Jo Stein\, a Daughter of Charity for over 35 years\, has been blessed to serve in various forms of ministry\, including teacher of biology and French\, hospital nurse\, family practice nurse practitioner in the community health realm\, formation director for new members in the Daughters of Charity\, and a loving companion to all our relations on the journey of integral ecology as a promoter for the Laudato Si Action Platform. She is passionate about the inseparable link between healthy Earth and healthy humanity. She is grateful for opportunities to apply her experiences in international\, intercultural settings and her background in biology and healthcare to join with others in the ever-widening circle of care for all of creation who calls this planet our home. \nTaylor Nutter\, Ph. SUMMARY:Civil War Sisters Tour
DESCRIPTION:On this specialty tour\, discover all that the Sisters and Daughters of Charity experienced during the American Civil War as they tirelessly endeavored to provide hope an healing to a nation torn apart by conflict. \nLearn how charity was given without reserve to the destitute\, wounded and ill on both sides of the conflict as Sisters found themselves serving on battlefields\, in hospitals and other unconventional settings throughout the country\, including their own property in Emmitsburg\, MD.   After the Union Army encamped in late June of 1863 at the Sisterhood and proceeded north\, the bloodiest battle of the Civil War raged just 12 miles from the peaceful home of the Sisters in the small town of Gettysburg.  Bravely\, the Sisters responded wherever there was human need both near and far from home beginning the spring of 1861 to the close of the war. \nTours are available the 3rd Sunday of the Month from June thru Sept. at 1pm and 3pm.  (6/16\, 7/21\, 8/18 and 9/15)\, as well as 5/27 at 11am & 1pm (Memorial day). Reserve your ticket here. \nJoin us for this tour that captures how the Sisters provided solace in the midst of suffering and despair. The tours take place every third Sunday of the month. You will also receive a free Charity Afire Civil War Trilogy with your ticket! \nCivil War Sisters Tour for Groups  \nThe Civil War Sisters Group Tour is available to groups of 10 or more\, with a discounted rate of $5/person.
