I. Fomentar el culto y la devoción
Deepening and expanding the sacramental and devotional services we offer at the Seton Shrine will allow us to more fruitfully respond to the great and growing spiritual hunger we see in our visitors and the culture at large
Dar vida a la fe y a la historia
At the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, history is more than something to read about—it is something to experience.
Through immersive programs, visitors don’t simply learn about Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Catholic faith—they step into the stories, encounter remarkable witnesses of faith, and discover how God’s grace continues to transform lives today.
These unique experiences inspire pilgrims of all ages to deepen their faith while connecting with the people, places, and events that shaped Mother Seton’s life and legacy.
Historia viva
Step back to the year 1818 and experience daily life at St. Joseph’s School through the eyes of those who knew and loved Mother Seton.
Our Living History interpreters portray real Sisters of Charity and students from Mother Seton’s time, inviting visitors to explore the White House, hear personal stories, participate in hands-on activities, and discover what life was like in the first Catholic girls’ school founded by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton.
Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or a school group, Living History offers an engaging and memorable way to encounter Mother Seton’s world—and the faith that inspired it.
De vuelta de la muerte
Each October, the Seton Shrine’s historic cemetery becomes the setting for one of our most beloved faith experiences.
Guided by candlelight, visitors encounter saints and martyrs who reflect on the “Last Things”—death, judgment, heaven, and hell. Through powerful storytelling and unforgettable performances, participants are invited to reflect on God’s mercy, the call to holiness, and what it means to live for eternity.
For thousands of young people, families, parish groups, and pilgrims, Back from the Dead has become a meaningful annual tradition that offers a distinctly Catholic alternative during the Halloween season while encouraging a deeper relationship with Christ.
Help Bring Faith and History to Life
