Celebrating the Feast Day of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton - Seton Shrine

Celebrate With Us

Mother Seton’s Feast Day January 4

We will gather together to celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton on January 4. This year it coincides with the Feast of the Epiphany. It is a great day to visit the Seton Shrine to pray, learn more about the first American-born Saint, and enjoy the planned activities. Attend a few or make an entire day of it.

Throughout The Day (10am - 5pm)

Can’t make a pilgrimage to the Seton Shrine on January 4? Here are some ways you can observe the Feast Day in your home, parish, or school.

  • Pray a Novena using the Novena Prayer
  • Watch the video Seeker to Saint
  • Read articles in the Seton Reflection series including: Epiphany: The Wise Among Us Still Seek the Lord – Seton Shrine
  • Read An Advent Journey With St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
  • Decorate a statue or image of Mother Seton in your home, school, or church
  • Find your own quiet time to contemplate the life of the woman who founded the first community of religious women in the U.S., created the first free Catholic school for girls staffed by sisters in the U.S. and fulfilled her mission of serving those in need.
  • Help those in need in your community. (Examples volunteering time at a food bank, homeless shelter, nursing home, or reading to children)

Novena Prayer

Oh, God our Father,
glorify here upon earth your servant,
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton,
by manifesting the power of her intercession
through the favour I now implore.

(State your intention here…)

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit,
one God,
forever and ever.

Amen.
