The Seton Shrine is hiring! Work at the site of the first American-born Saint's historic home, and share her remarkable story with thousands of visitors. We are looking for hard-working professionals with warm, dynamic personalities to serve our visitors in the roles below.

GIFT SHOP COORDINATOR – FULL-TIME: Become part of a growing organization at a very exciting time—brand new gift shop to be constructed and opened next year! The Seton Shrine is a seeking friendly, capable professional to lead operations in its Gift Shop.  He or she will oversee a team of shop attendants, providing exemplary customer service on the sales floor and by phone, e-mail, and web store.  He or she will ensure effective  inventory management, display design, new product development, and online marketing.  The Gift Shop Coordinator works with the Programs Director to set annual budget, monitor budget adherence, and achieve budget goals.  He or she also works as part of a larger team to integrate shop products, displays, and procedures into the overall visitor experience.

Knowledge and Experience:  The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, solving problems and communicating effectively with team members.  He or she will retain a high school diploma or equivalent.  Prior retail sales experience, basic math skills, and discretion in handling confidential information are required.  Facility learning and using common computer applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet browsers is essential; experience with WooCommerce and Quickbooks preferred.  Familiarity with the Catholic Church, its teaching and popular devotions, is strongly preferred.

GIFT SHOP ATTENDANT – AS NEEDED: The Seton Shrine is seeking a part-time friendly and hard-working team member to assist in helping guests in our Gift Shop.  This will involve helping visitors find products, operating a register, answering phone calls, processing online and phone orders, receiving and tagging merchandise, and interacting with visitors before, during, and after their visits in a hospitable way.  The position will be 8-25 hours per week as needed depending on pilgrim traffic and includes weekends, with occasional weekdays.  The Shrine offers competitive pay and this position offers opportunities for growth.

Knowledge and Experience:  The successful candidate will retain or be working towards a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Previous experience in retail and/or customer service preferred, but not required. Basic knowledge of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Catholic Church is a plus.  Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills required, as well as computer skills.

HISTORY INTERPRETER –PART-TIME: The Seton Shrine is a seeking friendly, engaging, creative person to join our team as a part-time as a Visitor Experience Facilitator (VEF). The VEF interacts directly with visitors as a tour guide or by presenting an historical figure in first-person wearing a period costume. The VEF also will mentor participants in our Junior History Interpreters program (ages 8-18). Training will be provided.

The schedule is usually 7-8 hours/day, two-four days per week that includes at least one weekend day and occasional evenings; weekend and evening availability is required. The Shrine offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth within the position of Visitor Experience Facilitator.

Knowledge and Experience: The ideal candidate has and engaging personality, a passion for education and has a deep appreciation for history. He/she must be comfortable speaking to and engaging with groups of people 20+ people as well as couples and families. Experience performing or teaching is a plus. He or she will be a quick learner, able to absorb and retain large amounts of information and present it in a creative manner. Basic knowledge of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Catholic Church is a plus. He or she will retain a high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
