The Seton Shrine is hiring! Work at the site of the first American-born Saint's historic home, and share her remarkable story with thousands of visitors. We are looking for hard-working professionals with warm, dynamic personalities to serve our visitors in the roles below.

Group Visits Coordinator – Full-Time

The Seton Shrine is seeking an outgoing, hard-working professional to facilitate visits for groups of schoolchildren, seniors, tourists, etc. This involves responding to inquiries from group leaders, reaching out to parishes and other organizations to encourage group visits, and working with other Shrine team members to arrange the components of each group’s visit, i.e. tours, sacraments, meeting room use, catering, etc.

The ideal candidate will have strong hospitality skills/sensibilities and possess the stamina and flexibility to host multiple groups simultaneously. He or she will have a pleasant phone demeanor and eagerly master our cloud-based group reservation software (Blackbaud’s Altru). Experience in sales and/or catering a plus. Familiarity with devotions and customs related to Catholicism a plus. Hours are generally Tuesday-Saturday 8 hours a day with occasional Sundays/evenings. Receptionist: Full-Time

The Seton Shrine is seeking a friendly, engaging, and creative person to join our team primarily as a full-time Visitor Experience Facilitator (VEF) at the Information Desk, ready for immediate hire.  The VEF receptionist will interact directly with visitors to ensure the best experience possible. She or he will also be responsible for managing the Visitor Center daily operations including the daily sales process. Hours are generally 7-8 hours per day, five days per week; weekend and occasional evening availability is required. The Shrine offers competitive pay and benefits, and this position offers opportunities for professional growth.

Knowledge and Experience: The ideal candidate has experience in hospitality, excellent communication skills, and has a deep appreciation for history. He or she will retain a high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.  He must be comfortable speaking to and engaging with large groups of people and isa  quick learner, absorbs and retains large amounts of information and can present it in a creative manner. Basic knowledge of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Catholic Church is a plus. Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills are required.

History Interpreter – Full-Time

The Seton Shrine is seeking a friendly, engaging, and a creative person to join our team as a full-time Visitor Experience Facilitator (VEF). The VEF interacts directly with visitors as a tour guide or by presenting an historical figure in first-person wearing a period costume. The VEF will also mentor participants in our Junior History Interpreters program (ages 8-18). Training will be provided.

The schedule is usually 7-8 hours/day, five days per week that includes at least one weekend day and occasional evenings; weekend and evening availability is required. The Shrine offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth within the position of Visitor Experience Facilitator.

Knowledge and Experience: The ideal candidate has an engaging personality, a passion for education and has a deep appreciation for history. He/she must be comfortable speaking to and engaging with groups of 20+ people as well as couples and families. Experience performing or teaching is a plus. He or she will be a quick learner, able to absorb and retain large amounts of information and present it in a creative manner. Basic knowledge of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Catholic Church is a plus. He or she will retain a high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.

As Needed Gift Shop/Info Desk Sales Associate

The As-Needed Gift Shop/Info Desk Sales Associate fills two roles, usually working an irregular schedule based on expected volume of visitors and other factors. The Gift Shop helps visitors maintain a connection with the Shrine by providing Shrine-related products for purchase. The Gift Shop Sales associate helps visitors find and purchase products as well as prepare items for sale or shipping. The Information Desk is one of the cornerstones in creating an easy and peaceful environment that allows visitors to focus on their experience from the start. The Information Desk associate is responsible for hospitality, tickets, and daily operations as well as other elements of the Shrine. Weekend and evening availability required.
