Step back in time at the Shrine’s Christmas Living History program…

Nov. 30th, Dec. 1st, 5th-8th

Come be part of The Promise of Hope with Mother Seton, her Sisters and students at St. Joseph’s School during an unforgettable living history experience for learners of all ages!

The year is 1818 and everyone at St. Joseph’s School is getting ready to share The Promise of Hope with those in need.

Step into the heartwarming world of Mother Seton and her Sisters of Charity at our enchanting Christmas living history event, “Candlelight Tours: The Promise of Hope.” As you stroll down illuminated walkways, the soft glow of lanterns will guide you to historic homes adorned with festive decorations, evoking the spirit of a 19th-century Christmas.

Meet our costumed interpreters who bring to life the vibrant community that Mother Seton nurtured. You’ll hear the stories of her unwavering faith, her deep love for Christ, and her dedication to serving those in need.

This year, our theme centers on the powerful message of hope, drawing inspiration from the Magi who followed the star to find Christ. Just as they journeyed with faith and determination, so too did Mother Seton, especially as she reflected on the poignant Bourdaloue sermon that profoundly influenced her life.

Witness the palpable faith that defined Mother Seton’s Sisterhood and feel the warmth of community as the Sisters and students share their own hopes and dreams during this festive season. Become a part of the story as you are invited to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas through the activities the Sisters and students are preparing for Mother Seton.

May “The Promise of Hope” fill your heart with joy and inspiration as you immerse yourself in this unique experience. Carry the spirit of hope with you as you leave, remembering that even in uncertain times, faith and love can illuminate our paths. Join us for a magical evening of history, reflection, and celebration—where the legacy of Mother Seton and her Sisters continues to shine bright.
