Defense Manufacturer Danko Arlington Creates Key Replicas for The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

Earlier in March at Danko Arlington in Baltimore, instead of military-grade aluminum castings rolling off the production line, there were house keys coming off the line. “The business has been in my family for 96 years,” said John D. Danko, President of Danko Arlington. “I think this is the first time we’ve ever made house keys.” These keys were no ordinary house keys—they are replicas of the key for Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Stone House, which was given to Pope Francis by President Obama on behalf of the American people.

Helping an organization like the Shrine is second nature to a company like Danko Arlington, who received the 2015 Community Investor Award from Associated Black Charities in Maryland. “I relate to the Shrine and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in a number of ways,” said Danko. “She is the Patroness of the sea services divisions of the U.S. military, like the Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines, and her two sons were in the Navy. Plus, she was devoted to helping others however she could. My company takes great care in manufacturing various products for the military. We also strive to do our part in supporting our community and non-profit organizations.”

Danko Arlington is making the keys as a special favor to The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. “We’re thrilled to have Danko Arlington’s help in creating the key replicas,” said Rob Judge, Executive Director of The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. “Back in September 2015, we were looking for a way to create replicas of the Stone House key that was given to Pope Francis,” said Judge. “Danko Arlington made us a 3-D replica, and offered to make us a supply of bronze replica keys as well.”
