On Mother Seton’s 47th Canonization Anniversary, Enroll Your Loved Ones in Our Prayer Offering
Mother Seton was beatified by Pope John XXIII on December 18, 1959 and canonized — officially made a saint — on September 14, 1975, by Pope St. Paul VI.
Elizabeth Ann Seton, mother of five, was widowed at the age of 29. Yet despite great hardships, she went on to do amazing work. She founded the first community of religious women in the United States, the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph’s. She also established St. Joseph’s Academy and Free School for girls, one of the earliest Catholic schools in the nation, and inspired the country’s parochial school system.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton changed the course of the Catholic Church in America. And today, more than ever, we must pray for her intercession.
On Mother Seton’s Canonization Anniversary, September 14, honor your loved ones by enrolling them in a prayer offering during Mass at the Basilica of The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton.
To send your intentions, and also send an optional Mass Enrollment eCard immediately by email, please click here.
The Sisters here at the Shrine will place your intentions at Mother Seton’s Altar of relics and pray for her intercession.
Send this beautiful eCard to notify a loved one of your enrollment today:
(Only one person can be notified by email with an eCard per donation, but you can list the names of your enrollees in the box at the start, as well as additional prayer intentions at the end of the process.)
