Pilgrimage 2025 - Seton Shrine

Pilgrimage

2025

A Walk of Faith

In 2024, students, teachers, family members and other supporters of the Avalon School and Brookewood School in Montgomery County, Md, completed the first Camino of Maryland, a 14-day, 218-mile pilgrimage that ended at the Seton Shrine. This June they will begin a new pilgrimage with the active participation of the Seton Shrine. This year, from June 9 -22, pilgrims will walk from Point Lookout to Emmitsburg — across the state of Maryland — in prayerful honor of our patron saint.

“I first heard of Elizabeth Ann Seton in 1975, and I have had a devotion to her ever since. I am a teacher and started our schools in Maryland and she lived here, too,” said Rich McPherson, Camino of Maryland organizer, president of the Avalon School and head of Brookewood School.

The pilgrimage will also celebrate the 50th anniversary year of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton’s canonization. If you are interested in completing a few days of the Camino or all 14 days find more information here.
