Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton’s life was filled with journeys: long, hard physical journeys such as those that brought her to Italy and to Maryland, and intense, beautiful spiritual journeys of conversion and faith. Through all the hardships she faced, Mother Seton’s love of and trust in the Lord drew her always closer to Him. Relying heavily on the Sacraments and prayer, her journey of faith and love resulted not only in deepening her own relationship with the Lord, but also in drawing all those around her closer to God.

This year has truly been filled with challenges, hardships, and suffering. But with this chaos, comes great opportunity. Just as Mother Seton traversed through her pain travelling always closer to the Lord, we can use this year to enter more deeply into the Advent season. Meditating on Mary, Joseph, and Jesus, we can journey along with them this Advent and draw further into an encounter with Christ.
